Lissendorf used to be the junction where the Ahrtalbahn connected to the Eifelbahn.

Until the end of WWII the Eifelbahn used to be dual tracked all the way from Cologne to Trier and the section from Lissendorf to Juenkerath had 4 parallel tracks from the Eifelbahn and the Ahrtalbahn.

Due to the picturesque signal box Lissendorf is a well known photo-spot.
