The former station of Altenahr is nowadays a single track halt. Altenahr was reached by the railway in 1886. The line to Adenau was opened two years later in July 1888.

The trackbed of former tracks 1 and 2 has been filled up, track 3 is now track 1 and the space of track 4 has been reused to install an impressive fence to protect the train from falling rocks from the nearby cliff-like hill.

The old signal box has been bought by a nearby hotel and is nicely preserved.
