If you want to visit the historic center of Ahrweiler, it is best to get off at Ahrweiler Markt halt, as it is much closer to the city. If you take the other direction, you will either see the pillars of the only never finished structure of the "Unvollendete" railway line from the Ruhrgebiet to Rech, or a short walk takes you to the impressive remains of the roman villa in the "Silberberg" museum.
